State of torture

January 22, 2010

One year ago, President Obama announced that the US would no longer follow the Bush administration’s misguided policies of “extraordinary rendition” and “enhanced interrogation techniques” – or kidnapping and torture in plain English.

On Wednesday January 27th, Obama will deliver his State of the Union address. It is already clear that the Obama administration has failed to meet its own deadline for closing Guantanamo. However, it is not to late to do something about the torture committed in the name of the American people.  Send a message to President Obama urging him to announce in his State of the Union address that he will work with Congress to set up an independent commission of inquiry to find and tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth about American torture!
